An absolute URL is a link to a completely different site (i.e. http://www.dori.com/index.html) and it is identified independent of it's context, whereas a relative URL is a way to identify a source relative to it's context. Which is to say they are simplifed but only when they give certain context (about/index.html)
What is the advantage of managing files, i.e. renaming, moving, and deleting files, through Dreamweaver's Files Panel?
The advantage is you will save a lot of time not having to go through the tool bar, for example if you are creating a new page there are a lot more steps doing it in the particular folder than doing it in the Files Panel.
What is the significance of a page named index.html?
A page named 'index.html' is the first page created in a new site and is the page that a web browser load automatically when a visitor arrives at the site. Index is a common name but this page could have any variety of other names.
What DOCTYPE should you be using for your pages?
Our text suggests we should be using an HTML doctype. The doctype declares to the web browser how the page should be viewed.
